Vietnam eSIM for 7–15 Days: Data, Networks & Buying Tips
MeSIM Vietnam 30-day fixed-data prices
Catalogue updated 2026-10-02. Prices can change.
A Vietnam trip can combine Hanoi, a coastal stay and Ho Chi Minh City in one holiday. Buy mobile data for the whole itinerary rather than only your arrival airport. The key comparisons are usable allowance, supported network, expiry and whether you need a Vietnamese phone number.
The quick answer
For 7–15 days in Vietnam, shortlist a fixed-data plan that lasts your full stay, then compare it with a daily allowance at the final trip price. Check the named network for your route and confirm a local number separately if you need ordinary calls or SMS.
How we compare eSIM plans. MeSIM sells the plans featured on this site.
What allowance should you compare for 7, 10 or 15 days?
Estimate mobile use on days away from hotel Wi-Fi. Maps, messages and occasional browsing are different from uploading travel videos or tethering a laptop. The table gives starting budgets to compare, not a forecast of your actual usage or a claim that every allowance is currently on sale.
Check the phone’s per-app data history before deciding. If your routine already exceeds these budgets, buy more headroom or reduce mobile video and cloud backups.
| Trip length | Fixed allowances to compare | Budget example |
|---|---|---|
| 7 days | 5GB or 10GB | 5GB averages about 0.7GB/day |
| 10 days | 10GB or 20GB | 10GB averages 1GB/day |
| 15 days | 10GB or 20GB | 20GB averages about 1.3GB/day |

A total allowance is different from a daily allowance
A 10GB total package lets you spread that allowance across its validity period, subject to the plan’s terms. A 1GB-per-day product has a daily limit: unused data may not carry forward, and reaching the limit may change your service. Read the reset and fair-use rules.
For a 15-day trip, select 15 days on a configurable offer before comparing its price. Check what happens after the high-speed allowance runs out; do not assume either a particular reduced speed or unlimited hotspot use when the supplier has not confirmed it.
Network choice depends on where you are going
Look for a named local network in the offer and check the places on your route, particularly if you are adding a rural stay or mountain excursion to a city holiday. Do not assume a product mentioning several networks lets you use each one everywhere.
If the network is unclear, ask before buying rather than choosing solely on the cheapest price. Save accommodation addresses, tickets and essential route information offline so a weak connection does not prevent you reaching what you have already booked.
Travel data eSIM or a local Vietnamese tourist SIM?
Compare a travel data eSIM if you want to arrange internet access before departure. Compare a local tourist product if a Vietnamese number and local calling are important. Neither product type is automatically better value: compare the features you need and any setup steps.
Viettel’s official tourist purchase flow asks for passport and portrait images. That confirms an identity-information step for that particular flow; it does not establish the registration process for every reseller eSIM. Check the selected provider’s requirements and buy through its official checkout.
If buying locally, confirm that the offer is available as an eSIM for your exact device rather than only as a physical SIM. Keep your existing app accounts in place unless you deliberately want to change their registered number.

Prepare before arrival and check onward coverage
Confirm that your handset supports eSIM and is unlocked. Follow the product’s instructions about when installation and activation should happen; do not assume those steps start validity in the same way for every supplier. Keep the QR and order instructions accessible on Wi-Fi.
For a Vietnam trip continuing into Thailand or Cambodia, compare an Asia package that lists every destination with separate country plans. Check whether its validity covers your whole journey and whether the allowance is shared. Vietnam coverage alone says nothing about service after crossing a border.

Frequently asked questions
Is 10GB enough for 15 days in Vietnam?
It provides about 0.67GB per day on average. It can work for lighter use with Wi-Fi, while frequent uploads, video and tethering may need more.
Can I use a Vietnam eSIM for internet calls?
An internet calling app can use the eSIM’s data where the app and service are available. That is different from ordinary phone-dialler calls, which require voice support.
Does a Vietnam eSIM include a Vietnamese number?
Not necessarily. Check the individual product for a number, incoming or outgoing calls, and SMS rather than inferring those features from country coverage.
Should I buy a Vietnam eSIM before travelling?
Buying in advance can make arrival simpler, but first check compatibility and the validity start rule. Compare local purchase options if you need a local number or in-person setup.
